What is HOVE? Hawaiian Ocean View Estates
An eclectic, vibrant assortment of land and homes that exist in their own element- a unique community that enjoys spectacular views, paramount privacy and a way of life unlike anywhere else in the world. It’s seclusion from the rest of the island has perpetuated a culture that is based in hard work, self sustainability and creativity.
Hawaiian Ocean View Estates is a subdivision comprised of over 10,000, one acre lots, with paved roads stretching out more than 150 miles in total- this subdivision was once considered the largest in the world- and yet, you won’t find one house like the other. Free from CC&R’s that would constrain an owner's construction choices, the homes in HOVE range from normal to radical.
Affordable land prices allow one to ‘buy and build’ their hawaiian dream home- whether that be a conventional spec home with a white picket fence or an off the grid, green multi-family yurt compound- the options are here.
These freedoms don’t come without catches, however. There is a $140 a year road maintenance fee- and you won’t find any county water out here either. You’ll need to learn how to live off of a water catchment tank. When you’re buying a lot make sure you check that there is power available first! You may find that a lot you’re looking at has no power available and you’ll need to learn to live off of a generator or solar system.
For those that aren’t afraid to live outside the box, and crave charisma, beauty and magic in their landscape, then Hawaiian Ocean View Estates is a perfect match.
